Zurich - hot, hot, hot!

sunny 34 °C

Got out of the airport pretty quickly, and was in the city by 7.30am. Wandered around to find my hotel, but couldn't check in until 1pm so just kept myself amused for a few hours. Keeping with the tradition of going to local authentic cafes, went to Starbucks....from there I wandered around the city, though since it was quite early there wasn't a lot going on yet. Somehow I managed to keep myself busy, lots of sitting around and not doing much for the whole morning, trying to keep out of the heat. Eventually headed to the hotel, 2 stars but nice enough, where instead of trying to get into a local routine, I succumbed to the jet lag and fell asleep at about 3pm, so 10.30pm Adelaide time. Slept on and off for the next however many hours, but woke up at 6am and couldn't get back to sleep, so it was time to face the day!

So I read for a little while then headed to breakfast before heading out for the day. Decided not to venture too far (initially) catching the train about 20 minutes to a place called Uetliberg. About 800m high, popular place to go hiking, so I thought I would go for it. 5 hours later I arrived back at the station, totally exhausted!! But it was very nice, great scenery, very peaceful with hardly anyone around, feel quite fit after it!

It's about 8.15pm here now as I write, the sun is still up as if it was midday, and it's still pretty hot. Got to a max of 34C today, a bit of a shock to the system!

That's all for now - photos coming soon!
