Poker machines!

sunny 26 °C

Well from Paris I arrived into Helsinki bright and early at 1am in the morning! Luckily I had my Finnish friend Janina to pick me up, and managed to call it a night by 2.

Only in Helsinki for a day and a half, but the main reason was to catch up with my aunt and uncle who had been there for the last six weeks. Spent a quiet day roaming around the shopping centres, where I was introduced to Finnish poker machines! Quite fun! You can play them anywhere, in the supermarket for example, then they have a big room between the newsagency and the clothes shop. And for all you young kids, don't wait til you are 18 in Australia, only have to be 15 here! Had a little play on them with everyone else, but otherwise just enjoyed watching. Though at least with these you were actually playing poker, so there was a tiny bit of skill involved.

Still great weather here, not as hot as I had been experiencing, but still nice enough for a great dinner outside in the evening sun at Janina's with the group of us. Was quite a nice and relaxing evening with some great food and wine (the theme of the past three weeks!), my last free evening before back at uni!

Left Finland bright and early at 9am Tuesday the 1st, on my way to Sweden to begin my studies at Linkoping!
